The important thing to remember is that we need to know about any potential claim as soon as possible – even if you don't claim after all. There is a 60 day claim reporting period within our terms and conditions from the date of the incident occurring.
Don't worry if you decide not to go through with the claim, we keep our files open and the fact that you have given us notification means that you have up to 12 months to claim for the incident before the file is closed.
Veterinary fees claims
You will be sent two forms to complete – one for you and one for your vet. We can arrange to pay your vet direct if you prefer. You will be responsible for paying the excess amount noted in your Certificate of Insurance, you can pay this to your vet and send the completed forms and the invoices to us. Many claims are ongoing so there will be more invoices in the pipeline and you can continue to forward the invoices to us for payment. You only need one claim form per incident so it is not necessary to call for more claim forms.
In many cases your horse will be referred to a specialist equine clinic, you should call us to let us know that this is required so we can update our records. We should also be notified of any referrals for alternative treatments such as physiotherapy. Alternative treatments must be referred by your vet.
